OBEY X Article. OBEY Radio Pre-Party

June 27, 2012

As many of you know already, we have got an OBEY Radio night planned for this Thursday evening and to get you nice and loose beforehand we have got a little pre-party going on at the Article store to get everyone fired up.

To celebrate the opening of Article’s new store in the heart of Hoxton, East London, head down to 96 Kingsland Road for a pre-party shingdig, from 6pm. If you spend over £60 in store we’ll let you into the main OBEY Radio event for FREE, you’ll also bag yourself a blank OBEY t-shirt that the guys at Hit+Run have kindly offered to screen-print before your very eyes creating a limited edition tee.

We’ll be doing a little art installation in-store during the day for you to feast your eyes upon later that evening, so it’s definitely worth popping in for a visit.

So just to re-cap, this week’s OBEY Radio London Party is the first UK chapter in the continuing OBEY Radio global journey. Teaming up with Earnest Endeavours and Hit+Run in London, we have handpicked a whole host of our favourite DJ’s, including new wave funk pioneer B. Bravo, PARP 101, Kutmah, Patchwork Pirates as well as OBEY’s very own DJ Roam.

OBEY Radio London Update

June 21, 2012

We are super stoked to invite you all to next week’s OBEY Radio London Party, the first UK chapter in the continuing OBEY Radio global journey. After a pretty insane three and a half year weekly residence at The Crosby in Santa Ana, California, OBEY Radio has shifted focus to putting on parties across the globe.

Teaming up with Earnest Endeavours in London we have handpicked a whole host of our favourite DJ’s, including new wave funk pioneer B. Bravo, PARP 101, Kutmah, Patchwork Pirates as well as OBEY’s very own DJ Roam.
As you can see London’s first OBEY Radio night is set to be a big one! To get a little taster of how it’s going to go down, check out the DJ links from our Facebook page including DJ Roam’s new mix ‘The Outervention Vol.1
For a little more background and a deeper dig through the crates, Roam together with Urth (Free The Robots) were the guys behind the classic ‘From City To City‘ OBEY mixtape which has been quoted as being up there as one of the best throwback nostalgic visionary mixtapes ever.

It’s not just about the music though, Hit+Run will have some live screen printing on the go, producing ‘one-night-only’ tee designs. To find out more head over to OBEY Clothing UK on Facebook and also check out the event page put together by Earnest Endeavours.

So if you fancy yourself a Thursday night full of new wave funk dub psyche banging dirty beats mixed with a house party vibe and accompanied by a twist on traditional t-shirt printing then get yourself down to Basing House on the 28th June and get your OBEY groove on.

There are a limited number of early bird tickets available for just £5 via Ticket Web so make sure you don’t miss out!

See you on the dancefloor!

OBEY Giant à Paris

June 21, 2012

While Shepard and the OBEY Giant crew were in Paris last week for the Levi’s collaboration, they found time to put up a new mural too! At roughly 100ft it’s the second largest mural that Shepard has worked on. Check out the newest mural photos below (courtesy of Matthieu Soudet) and this short video featuring an interview with Shepard by Mahmoud Belakhel. Special thanks to the organizers, Mairie du 13e Medhd from Galerie Ithnerrance and Butterflyartnews.com

THE RISE…

June 12, 2012

Shepard talks about the influence graffiti, skateboarding and punk rock had on his life and the ways it shaped his art career. Key moments such as a school trip to NY and the melding of styles by brands such as Shut Skateboards allowed him to develop his techniques. Look out for some classic 90’s skate footage as well…
