Gilles Peterson rinsed the Gaslamp Killer mixtape on Radio 1 two days after it arrived here in the office!!!!

Anyway, those who are already on our mailing list (subscribe using that box up there, top right) are already in the know as we hit them up last week, but we wanted to let you know that the 5th installment of the Obey mixtape project is in town!!!!!!
It’s called “I Spit On Your Grave” , GLK is the collaborator and of course Shepard has done the artwork design.

The Gaslamp Killer (William Bensussen), Los Angeles based DJ/Producer, Low End Theorist, and Dublab Radio resident, is not your conventional artist. What separates him from the rest of the herd is his extensive knowledge in psychedelic rock, demonic bass-heavy Hip-Hop, Middle-Eastern/ Indian rare grooves, and ear-piercing helicopter breaks. The energy during his live sets resonates through crowds, taking you to the filthiest psyche/freak-out you’ve ever been on. He’s earned the respect of eclectic heavy-hitters and has shared the stage with Digable Planets, Broadcast, M.F. Doom, Thievery Corporation, and many others.

The flavor was only enhanced by the Gaslamp Killer’s more sinister personal look, having shaved his dreads and grown an unruly beard and sideburns combo worthy of the most savage maniacs. To continue the Ladies Obey Summer 08 story I have to let you know that we have also produced a Summer 08 Obey Womens photoshoot which Pippa from Shop at Maison B has styled and it looks amazing!!!!!.

So we are back after the festive fatten up, with a whole new year to be excited about, and buoy are we excited!!!!!!

We have seen the future and it’s is very bright!!!!!!!

1. The Fuji/Obey track bike which will land on the UK’s sunny shores later this month and……..

2. (This one will sting a bit as you will have to wait until after the summer….. but) rumour is afoot that Shepard is working with Public Enemy on a very special project.

Well ‘De La Soul’ knew it and just like Disney we think it should be all about the magic this Christmas so we are pushing our London sample sale out there for 3 days at the end of this week!!!!

We paid them a visit yesterday and left our mark. Thought you might like to see what we got up to.  Incidentally they have just had a fresh hit of Shepards book ‘Supply & Demand’ which would make a perfect read over crimbo when your gran is trying to watch Eastenders. Give them a call.
